The finest of finishes, incredibly sharp aesthetics, intense ambiance and perhaps most notably, intelligent design, is exemplified in this collection from Steve Leung Designers. Established in Hong Kong and branching out to four centers in Mainland China, Steve Leung Designers' decidedly modern approach could not be said to be minimalist nor modest. Often associated with a certain vastness, the term 'modern' is applied liberally to everything from progressive architecture, installation art and self-assembled IKEA flat packs. Steve Leung Designers however, project a luxurious and expensive modern image.

Expensive materials and obvious luxury aside, Leung retains a sense of traditionalism through the use of rice paper, blonde wooden frames, carefully placed orchids and constrained floral silk features. His practiced hand is evidenced in the styling of the first unmistakably oriental bedroom. What could only be taken to represent Carp, positioned schooling above the bed, is an exercise in accessorizing that is repeated in later clearly European influenced spaces. White conversation pieces and silver statement pieces are increasingly incorporated without compromising the functionality or size of the interiors. Their low impact/ high style effect can be mostly attributed to their lack of dominating color.

Leung's beautifully executed sedimentary bathroom, like colored desert sands in a glass bottle, marks a shift in palettes. The white rice paper doors slide open to reveal a glossy and dramatic foray into contrasting shades of grey. Constraint of styling is mirrored in limited lighting with a heavy reliance on the reflection of surfaces to channel what little light there is.
